Help for drug and alcohol abuse.

Many people suffer from drug and alcohol abuse.  Not just those who consume, but their families and loved ones as well.  When you think of someone who has a drug problem and needs drug rehab, you probably think of someone like Amy Winehouse, or a homeless derelink junkie but the truth is that anyone, from any strata of society, of any age, any class and any background can have an addiction.  The form of that addiction can be obvious to all those around them, or it can be more hidden, perhaps known only to the addict who hides it from others.

True addiction is a disease just like heart disease or diabetes – a real addict or alcoholic can’t just use their will power to abstain.  They need drug rehab and alcohol rehab medical treatment, information and lifestyle counseling to overcome their addiction and maintain abstinence.

Research shows us that alcoholism and drug addiction can manifest in many ways.  Some people use substances daily, others perhaps only occasionally, but regardless of the frequency of use or abuse, the person’s life is usually in chronic chaos, they place themselves knowingly or unknowingly in dangerous situations, their jobs are often lost or placed at risk, relationships can be volatile or abusive – the list goes on.

Some people just enjoy drinking or using so much they continue to do so until one day they find that they can’t stop.  Other people are terribly desperate to stop but find themselves unable to.  Access to alcohol rehab, or any treatment for addiction to any substance is multilayered and somewhere like Michael’s House provides a safe place to explore treatment options.
